Morphs were part of the Gen 4 pro bundles. I have the original V4 pro bundle and the morphs pack was included. Gen 4 had the base figure, the starter, Complete and Pro. Complete and Pro had the morphs included. Because of the length of release time between Genesis and V5, the Evolution morphs were released well before V5. V5 and M5 Pro Suites had the morphs but the Pro and Starter bundles didn't. DAZ dropped the Complete level for the Gen 4 at some point but I do know the V4 and M4 Complete were part of the disc software for the original book by Les Pardew for DS.
V6 Pro Bundle doesn't have the morphs either. When M6 was announced I knew that DAZ would follow the same pattern as G2F and make the morphs a separate purchase as well. I am more than a little annoyed that they put the M6 bundles out but the characters don't work because they haven't gotten around to releasing the G2M head and body morphs. Back@ssward if you ask me. It's the megaprize. However jacking the price of pro bundle up by $41 over the price of V6 Pro bundle is a little much.
Especially when you get less in the M6 Pro Bundle than you do in V6 Pro Bundle. But, hey, guy things don't sell as much anyway so we'll just help things along in that department. In order to have the full functionality of this product, you will want to purchase the Genesis 2 Female Head and Body Morphs. The Michael 6 Pro Bundle has no such note. Hopefully DAZ will see to that little omission. I think one of the big differences between Gen 5 and Gen 6 is that Gen 5 didn't actually need morphs/evolution/'morphs' for all the 'pro bundle' content to function.
The Gen 6 pro bundle is, IMO, incomplete. It's not 100% functional out of the box, unless you buy the optional morphs. (which no longer have a cool name. What's up with that, DAZ?) Gen 6 reminds me of the old Zygote days, where you had to make a little shopping list to get a character together. Victoria 2 came with just a mesh, you had to buy a basic texture map separate, then some clothes, and some hair, before you were up and running.
Gen 4 was wonderful, because you had a 'one stop' solution. Buy the pro bundle, and you were ready to run: character, several nice character morphs, the fairly comprehensive 'morphs' that made 'dial spun' characters possible, couple of not-so-laughable outfits, and some tolerable hair. One purchase, and you can start making art. IMO, again, that bundle is one of the reasons generation 4 is still the 'gold standard' and the 'rosetta stone', with more content than Gen 5 and 6 put together.
Genesis 3 Female Morphs
With the lack of acceptance of Gen 5 and Gen 6 in the Poser community, and all the awesome Gen 4 freebies we had recently on DAZ, I don't see that all changing soon. I consider morphs to be essential, even without the new Gen 6 'requirement' of having it to run your pro bundle content. And I consider some ability to utilize Gen 4 resources to be essential, too. Genesis broke my 'get the bundle and go' ideal. Gen 5 operated pretty well with Gen 4 textures, and maybe 80% of clothes and hair. Obviously, character morphs didn't translate, unless you dropped $32 on GenX.
And unbundling 'morphs' was a $33 hit, but that's not too bad. $65 gets you up and running, for both males and females. Gen 6 is insane. Splitting male and female means splitting the evolution morphs into two $33 packages. Gen 4 textures (half the Gen 5 characters use Gen 4 textures, what's up with that?) means a $15 M4 or V4 for Gen 2 package for each gender, and a $15 texture autocoverter for each gender.
Counter strike source digitalzone patch v19. $63 per gender. If GenX 2 costs the same as Gen X, we've got $158 additional cost to get Gen 6 running to my satisfaction. OK, rant done. Nor any previous Genesis pro bundles. Just because you did it wrong in the past doesn't mean you should keep doing it wrong. Something labeled Professional Bundle should have all the basic support stuff in it.
This is where the M4 stuff and the morphs belong. Sorry if I sound angry, I like your products, but DAZ's business model is really non-understandable sometimes. A PRO Bundle (I bought it) without the necessary BASICS is a bit. But Michael 6 himself is sooo attractive. Does he really need morphs?:). The G2F and G2M head and body morph packs are not two $33 morph bundles. Buying during the intro sale with my PC coupon both times, I paid a little over $10 for the head and body morph bundles for both.
The only difference between Genesis/Gen 5 and G2F/M/Gen 6 is that instead of buying head and body morphs once (at a higher price tag), you buy the head and body morphs for each gender. Out of curiosity, I pulled up my order history. I purchased the Genesis morph pack during one of DAZ December sales. Even with the discount, the bundle still cost $20. The combined total for the the G2F and G2M head and body morph bundles comes out to $20 and change. I might only have had to buy the Genesis morphs once but they weren't any cheaper.
